It is with mixed emotions that I write this letter. The Covid-19 pandemic has had the effect for many of us to review and question what in life is most important to us. For me, at this time, it is spending more time with my family. Having children and grandchildren living in Colorado, sharing in their lives and continuing to practice is an impossibility. After many years devoted to providing periodontal care, I have come to the realization that it is now time to retire. I regret not being able to tell you all in person.
I have been practicing dentistry for thirty-eight years. Some of you have been with me the entire time. We’ve matured together. We’ve gone through births, deaths, marriages, new careers and retirements. I have shared your joys and your anguish and many of you have shared mine. I thank you all and count you among my life’s many blessings.
The majority of you were referred to me by your general dentist. I would encourage you to contact her or him for a referral to a new periodontist of their choice. Those of you alternating maintenance visits between offices, initially please return to your general dentist for all of your cleanings. If there is a need to see a new periodontist, again they can refer to the periodontist of their choice.
For those of you who do not have a general dentist to fall back on, please call the office. We will be available until August 21, 2020 to assist you. The same is true if you would like a copy of your records or would like to have them transferred to another practice.
Although we have tried for the past three years, we have been unable to transition the practice to another periodontist or periodontal office. We will be working during the month of June to complete cases that are in the middle of treatment. By July, I sadly say, that we will no longer be providing treatment.
I thank each and every one of you for the trust and confidence that you have placed in me. The decision to retire was a difficult one for me because I love being a periodontist. It has been an honor to have served you for the past thirty-eight years. I look forward with excitement to retirement and spending more time with my family. I look back with fondness and pride, to my years here with you and all that we have accomplished together.
